hello from stockholm!!
think i'm quite laggy cos i've been here a week already but there's just so much to do that it's impossible to find time to blog! in fact it is quite late now and i am damn tired. and also, we dont really have internet yet, though we just anyhow plugged in the lan cable and somehow it works even though we havent activated them. so yay! haha. if this whole week no internet i think we will just die.
ANYWAY, i shall start from the start! my flight got delayed for 7 hours at bangkok, so my journey to stockholm was a damn super long one. damn sian la, but luckily they gave us a nice hotel room to stay in, so just slept there then went to the airport again to take the flight to stockholm. and oh, thanks to everyone who came to send me off!! so sweet i am very touched. haha.

you all are much loved!! =D
yup so when i finally arrived in stockholm, we headed to the university to get my keys for the hostel. i was the last to check in! and when we came to my room, it was totally yucky! alot of dust and the lights were super dim, esp in the toilet omg. it was so freaking dark that once you close the door you can't see a thing! my parents and brother helped me to clean up the whole place and now it finally looks like a place fit for living. and jon helped me change all my lightbulbs!! so now it is damn freaking bright and the past occupant left behind 3 lamps so when i switch on everything it is really damn bright. yayy! haha.

and i am really quite happy with the room now, it is quite big! although i find the floor still quite dusty so now i am wearing bedroom slippers all around and i am going to mop my floor again!!!! but not yet because i have to wait until the landlord comes to repair my sink. my sink is damn nonsense la, it leaks!!!!! and what's worse is that it is corroded and fungus-y and mouldy and rusty!!!!!!! so i am very very very disgusted and i went to complain but he says he can only come and repair on tuesday. and he doesnt take off his shoes when he comes in so i have decided to only mop my floor after tuesday. i have a damn nice new mop! hahaha. oh and speaking of shoes, all of you who are planning to visit me, there is a special corner for shoes near the door where you have to put your shoes if not you cannot come in k!!!! i am very ngiao sorry. hahaha. in fact, i have decided that sunday will be my cleaning day! i will clean my room and do my laundry (can use the washing machines for freeeeeeee!!) and i will also run errands and buy groceries etc. good plan hor. haha.
oh and because my sink is so disgusting, i refuse to use it and i've been doing everything in the shower. like i have to brush my teeth in the shower and when i rinse my mouth i have to look up and open my mouth. -_- i hope the landlord repairs it properly!
but otherwise, my room is not bad! and i have plenty of food and drinks! my top shelf and abit of my second shelf contains my food and drinks! although my sauces may be quite extra since i dont foresee myself cooking much. jon's shelf is damn bare and sparse like old mother hubbard's cupboard compared to mine la... see, his is the 2nd picture! hahaha. but i think he has more stuff now cos we have 3 supermarkets downstairs! damn good everything also have. even maggimee and asian stuff! and got mailbox and it sells phone cards and alot of random stuff la.

yup, and here's a picture of my hostel...

quite nice la, although the corridors inside are long and narrow and abit scary. i'm staying in house 1 and jon stays in house 3, but it's linked via the laundry corridor and it's quite near. anyway, my corridor has 8 rooms, and there are 4 china pple (and there's a kid staying with one (or two?? a couple??) of them, so weird!!!!) and there's a polish girl, a swedish guy and a norwegian guy. although i dont really know them yet, only bump into them in the kitchen here and there and we introduced ourselves. the kitchen is damn good, it's right next to my room! the living room too, with a tv. damn convenient, and every morning i just go into the kitchen to have my breakfast so i wont dirty my room hahahaha. we have two fridges and many cupboards, and there's a shelf in the fridge labelled with your room number so that's yours. each cupboard too. quite good la.
so anyway, on the second day that i'm here, i went for orientation! damn boring, got alot of random talks. then after that i went for dinner with my parents, brother and some swedish family friends. they are damn nice and the kids are super cute!! i kept playing with them, especially the baby who's only 1.5 yrs old. she's damn funny and independent and not at all like the sg kids her age. she seems smarter and bigger and understands more things.

third day, went for more orientation, then came back to explore our neighbourhood! there's a gym near our hostel, and a kindergarten and another school. and there's this huge neverending forest that goes on and on and on and on forever! i dont think i will venture there myself because my direction sense is not that fantastic (but still quite, hurhurhur) and the forest looks like it's from the village so quite scary. at night, we went for the party organized for exchange students at the university pub, where jon had his first beer in a week and he was a very happy boy. hahaha. and we just stood around and tried to look for more good looking people. oh! forgot to mention, over the orientation days, we have spotted a jake gyllenhaal, a keira knightley, a johnny depp (who reminds us of mok!!!), a ken (as in barbie and ken), a cristiano ronaldo (and he's also from portugal!), a scarlett johanssen and a matt damon. hahaha. jon thinks he has found himself an angmoh ayumi hamasaki too but that one not as fantastic as the keira. keira really damn super chio. anyway some of the angmohs are really quite friendly, they just come up to you and introduce themselves. which is how we met alvaro, a spanish guy who we found out was from law too! and a korean girl kangyi (dunno if spell correctly) who intro-ed herself to us cos she said she saw us in emmylundsvagen where she's staying too. damn good, now we can go to her kitchen and eat bibimbak. haha! we damn sad everyday, must eat expensive angmoh food which is fast getting sian. so that night, we decided to cook for the first time all week! jon brought over his magic pot and we cooked maggimee!! hurhur.

see, i'm clearly the domestic goddess! except our cooking is not as extensive as ruizi's fishballs and veg. then we looked quite sad in the kitchen cos the chinese people came in and started cooking damn yummy smelling things on the stove, and they had rice and i even saw one guy slicing raw salmon!! SASHIMI!!!!!!!!! wahlau i think i need to make friends with them soon and hope they invite me to share their food. =[
yesterday, our last day of orientation, we finally found a THAI RESTAURANT on campus!!!!!! damn happy la we almost died. i think we're gonna be going there everyday esp since the menu changes everyday! got green curry!! satay! red curry! yellow curry! manymany curry!! hahahaa. and there was rice!!!!! =DDD
after orientation, i went to meet my parents again and another set of swedish friends for dinner at some atas swedish restaurant. the food was quite nice and super filling. then we went back to their house to take a look. the swedish pple really like to show pple their houses lor, we keep going to different ones. and usually they're the ones who built it! or refurbished it or something. they make their own gardens, build their own kitchens and stairs and everything. and it's always damn nice! oh and they have apple trees! and trampolines! hahahaa.

yes i know i look quite retarded haha. but it was damn fun! and super tiring la i think i'm getting damn old. joanna was just jumping forever while i collapsed halfway and rolled off the trampoline. -_-
the kids have two pet guinea pigs too. they're very cute and quite stupid, like if you set them on the floor they just sit there and cower in fear. haha. but better than hamsters cos at least they're big and you can play with them.
ok this post has been quite long so i will stop here. some photos are taken from jon cos his camera is superior. =[
we are going to walk around the city central today, so will update later!
OH and before i forget, i need help!!!! i'm using the apple mail application for my nusmail and somehow i can't send out mail from here even though last time in sg i could, and i didnt change any settings! if you know how to fix it, tell me k! thanks!

i'm leaving tmr!!!!!
how exciting. and a little bit sad. hur.
so anyway, today, i had to pack! and it was a very harrowing experience, especially since for a moment there i couldnt find my golden utensils (hurhurhur my mother bought for me). other than my golden utensils, there were manymany other essential things that a sweden-bound exchange student should bring in order to survive! these include:
1. a mini vacuum cleaner so that your table will always be free from crumbs! =D

2. a magical microwavable rice cooker where you can dump meat and veg inside too;

3. a large container of fried onions and various sauces, so that any inedible thing you cook can still taste good!

4. a friend in case you get lonely, =[ ;

5. a vacuumable ziplock bag to stuff your down blanket, bedsheets (which sadly, are pink and ugly) and all those thick winter clothes. VERY IMPORTANT if you want to fit everything into your luggage bag.

6. a mini iron so that you'll never have to start your day in wrinkly clothes;

7. a cup-warmer so that you'll always have a nice hot drink even in the winter!

8. pillow and bolster, which are extremely important for getting a good night's sleep in a strange bed in a strange land. no pic though, because they were already bundled up somewhere and currently stuffed into my megahuge backpack!
9. clothes!! warm clothes, light clothes, longjohns, coats, jackets, scarves, gloves, socks, shoes, bedroom slippers blahblah;

10. stationery! foolscap, postits, SPOTLITERS with at least 12 refills for each colour, 8 x g2-refills cos g2s cost sth like $9sgd in sweden, scissors, glue, scotchtape, maskingtape, stapler and bullets, bluetack etc;

11. and jon! hahaha.

in order to achieve the amazing feat of stuffing everything neatly, it is advisable to employ the help of a highly organized person -

and within a mere 3 hours, all 60kg worth of things are packed nicely into the bags, and i'm all set to go! =D

(josh, i hope this entry helps in telling you what to pack. hahaha)
